Position Summary:-

The Hostel Warden is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and overall management of a hostel facility. They will oversee the well-being and safety of the residents, enforce hostel rules and regulations, and provide a conducive living environment. The Hostel Warden will also handle administrative tasks related to hostel operations, such as managing bookings, coordinating maintenance activities, and maintaining records.

Responsibilities-:

1. Resident Welfare:-
• Create a welcoming and supportive environment for hostel residents.
• Promote a sense of community and foster positive relationships among residents.
• Address and resolve any conflicts or issues that arise between residents.
• Provide guidance, support, and assistance to residents as needed.
2. Safety and Security:-
• Implement and enforce safety and security protocols within the hostel premises.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and take appropriate action.
• Collaborate with relevant authorities or emergency services when necessary.
3. Rules and Regulations:
• Establish and communicate hostel rules and regulations to residents.
• Enforce compliance with rules and address any violations or misconduct.
• Maintain discipline and ensure a respectful and harmonious living environment.
• Promote adherence to hostel policies and procedures.
4. Administrative Tasks:-
• Manage the hostel registration process, including check-ins and check-outs.
• Maintain accurate records of residents, bookings, and occupancy rates.
• Coordinate room assignments and maintain an updated inventory of hostel facilities.
• Handle financial transactions, such as collecting rent and managing expenses.
5. Maintenance and Repairs:
• Coordinate and oversee routine maintenance and repairs of the hostel premises.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards.
• Liaise with external contractors or vendors for repairs and maintenance services.
• Ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are upheld throughout the hostel.
6. Communication and Reporting:-
• Maintain effective communication channels with residents and hostel management.
• Provide regular reports to the management regarding hostel operations and issues.
• Address inquiries, concerns, or feedback from residents and their families.
• Collaborate with other staff members to ensure seamless coordination.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Hospitality Management, Social Work, etc.) preferred.
• Prior experience in hostel management, student housing, or a similar role is an advantage.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with diverse residents.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of safety and security procedures and ability to respond to emergencies.
• Familiarity with relevant legislation and regulations related to hostel management.
• Proficient computer skills for maintaining records and managing administrative tasks.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if required.
• Empathy, patience, and a genuine interest in supporting residents' well-being.
